Program Coordinator

About the role

The Program Coordinator supports the C.D. Mote, Jr. Incentive Awards Program (IAP) at the University of Maryland, reporting to the Assistant Director and working closely with the IAP team. This role ensures smooth delivery of program initiatives, provides high‑touch student services, and helps create an enriching experience for award recipients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage outreach and recruitment activities in designated high‑school regions.
• Assist with the student selection process and maintain accurate records.
• Provide professional and personal advising to IAP students.
• Oversee the tutoring component and coordinate student committees.
• Handle office communications, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
• Travel to on‑ and off‑campus locations to deliver or collect materials and attend events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of experience in program, outreach, or event coordination (or equivalent education/experience).
• Ability to lift small parcels, walk short distances, and travel as needed.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of outreach and marketing strategies.
• Familiarity with clerical and administrative procedures, including filing and record‑keeping.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
