Professor – Research (Tenure‑Track)

About the role
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time, 12‑month, tenure‑track Professor – Research. The role focuses on establishing and leading an independent or collaborative research program that advances veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences, animal and public health, and One Health initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and sustain an externally funded research program aligned with school priorities.
- Secure competitive grants from agencies such as NIH, USDA, NSF, DoD, FDA, foundations, or industry partners.
- Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at regional, national, and international conferences.
- Collaborate with faculty across UMES schools and external institutions on interdisciplinary projects.
- Mentor DVM and graduate students, fostering their research development.
Required profile
- Ph.D. or equivalent in veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated record of research productivity and grant acquisition.
- Commitment to the 1890 land‑grant mission and to student mentorship.

- Salary range $150,000 – $190,000 annually, commensurate with rank and experience.
