About the role
The College of Engineering at the University of Miami seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Professor in Practice for Civil and Architectural Engineering. The appointment begins August 15, 2026 and focuses on undergraduate teaching, departmental service, and applied research.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate courses in civil and architectural engineering, including senior design capstone projects.
- Participate in department and university committees, as well as professional societies.
- Mentor student organizations and contribute to university strategic initiatives such as online program development.
- Conduct research in engineering education and applied building systems, integrating active‑learning and AI literacy.
Required profile
- Earned BS, MS, and PhD in civil or architectural engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within two years.
- Minimum three years of industry experience or engineering education experience.
- Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and student‑motivation skills.
