About the role
The College of Education at the University of Maryland seeks a nationally or internationally recognized scholar to serve as Chair of the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology (HDQM). The Chair will lead a diverse faculty in advancing the department’s research, teaching, and service missions while fostering an inclusive, collaborative community.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the department, overseeing research initiatives, curriculum development, and faculty recruitment.
- Manage fiscal and human resources, including budgeting, grant administration, and personnel supervision.
- Build and sustain partnerships across the university and with external stakeholders, including community organizations and policy makers.
Required profile
- Earned doctorate in human development, educational psychology, developmental psychology, measurement, quantitative methods, or a related field.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly publications and external funding at the level of Professor.
- Prior administrative or leadership experience such as department chair, center director, or associate dean.
- Commitment to equity, collaborative culture, and community‑oriented engagement.
