Production Supervisor - New Fiberglass Mat Plant

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is hiring a Production Supervisor for its new greenfield IKO Fiberglass Mat Plant in Chester, South Carolina, targeted to start up in Q1-Q2 2025. The supervisor leads production operations during construction and the start-up phase, working with the management team and reporting to the Production Manager. The role oversees the manufacture of IKO Mat Tech rolls while maintaining high standards for safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing and engage employees in a productive environment, promoting a safety culture where all injuries are seen as preventable
• Investigate and report on safety near-misses, injuries and hazards, maintain OSHA compliance, run safety inspections and safety programs such as behavior-based safety observations
• Deliver training on safety, quality and production, including cross-training and rotation, and hold regular crew meetings on safety, quality, production changes, goals and plant performance
• Work with other supervisors to meet plant SQDCP metrics and with production and maintenance teams to solve production and quality problems, identifying root causes and sustaining corrective actions
• Evaluate team members, coach and guide them, and plan and manage production scheduling
• Maintain employee time and attendance in Kronos, complete shift reports, and keep the workplace clean and safe

Required profile

• 4-year engineering degree preferred, or equivalent production leadership experience; Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical field
• Supervisory experience of 3-5 years
• Experience in high-speed manufacturing preferred
• Ability to motivate and build a new team focused on operational excellence
• Flexible to work the 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift

Required skills

• Lean Manufacturing and 5S knowledge or training
• Excellent communication, analytical, time management and organizational skills
• MS Office proficiency preferred
