Production Planning Manager

About the role

Thorne, a health supplement company, is hiring a Production Planning Manager in Summerville. The manager coordinates multi-site production activities through the daily execution of scheduled items in NAV software, working within current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure product quality and efficient use of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Assess long-range production needs and turn them into a weekly production plan.
• Review raw material availability and outside contract manufacturing resources to schedule production.
• Develop long- and short-range product forecasts for seasonality, demand patterns and other product movements.
• Manage planning parameters according to customer demand, inventory levels and capacity constraints.
• Monitor daily and weekly schedules against forecasted demand and track key production planning metrics.
• Review on-hand inventories and work with purchasing to plan additional production.
• Manage the department's change management system so changes are documented, reviewed, approved and implemented.
• Communicate with Purchasing, the warehouse, QC Lab, QA and manufacturing on material, packaging and component flow, and update the Master Scheduler on backorders and at-risk items.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Three to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and regulations, and to write reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Strong communication skills with supervisors, colleagues and vendors.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages.
