Production Lead, Packaging

About the role

Thorne is hiring a Production Lead for its Packaging department in Summerville. The role oversees the packaging of finished supplement products, making sure they are accurately labeled, sealed, inspected and ready for distribution. It combines hands-on production expertise with leadership duties, supporting Production Operators day to day and partnering with Supervisors to meet quality, safety and production goals. The schedule is 12-hour shifts: Week 1 Friday to Sunday, Week 2 Thursday to Sunday; packaging is night shift, 5pm to 5am.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day production activities to meet quality, productivity and schedule goals.
• Support operators during the shift by giving direction, answering questions and removing obstacles.
• Help manage staffing, materials, equipment and workflow, and lead shift transitions.
• Train and mentor operators on equipment, processes, SOPs and best practices, and support onboarding of new team members.
• Reinforce quality, safety and operational expectations through daily coaching and partner with Supervisors on employee development.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA, OSHA and Thorne quality standards, and review production documentation accurately and on time.
• Keep production areas clean, organized and ready for inspection, and help resolve quality or process issues.
• Monitor equipment performance, escalate concerns quickly, and support continuous improvement to reduce waste.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in manufacturing, production or another fast-paced operational environment.
• Previous experience leading, training or mentoring others preferred.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills; comfortable working hands-on while leading by example.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of cGMP, FDA, ISO or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
