Production Operator - Chemical Handling

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a Production Operator in Kansas City who handles liquid and dry chemical products safely and accurately in warehouse and transfer operations. The role covers mixing and blending chemicals, loading and unloading trucks, tankers and railcars, operating forklifts, repackaging and labeling materials, and keeping precise inventory records. It is a physically active, fast-paced job with no supervisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Mix, blend and manufacture products, keeping them on specification through process data and testing, and using scrubbers, ventilation and bonding/grounding equipment safely
• Receive, unload and load chemicals from trucks, tankers and railcars, inspect tanks and verify products against shipping documents
• Take product samples with lab personnel and keep receiving and shipping logs
• Pick and stage product for delivery, and operate certified forklifts and pallet jacks
• Move raw materials to production and finished goods to the warehouse, and repackage product into cylinders, drums, totes and pails with proper labeling
• Store hazardous waste drums in compliance with regulations and help with physical inventory counts
• Keep the warehouse clean and safe, report spills immediately, and protect property from theft or damage

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED or US military experience; candidates with 2+ years of chemical operations experience may be considered
• Forklift operator certification or ability to pass the exam
• English reading and writing ability, basic math, and ability to use devices such as computers, tablets and PLCs
• Available for any day of the week, 8-12 hour shifts, overtime and weekends; good safety and attendance record
• Physical ability to stand and walk most of the day, climb ladders to tanks and tankers, and work outdoors in variable weather
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check and E-verify; must be able to get a TWIC card for MTSA sites
