Production Chemist - Mid Shift (San Diego)

About the role

PolyPeptide is seeking a Production Chemist (levels I, II and III) to support the manufacture of high-quality Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in a cGMP-regulated environment. The role covers upstream synthesis and downstream purification of peptides, with mid-shift hours Monday to Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Pay ranges from $28 to $45 per hour depending on level.

Key responsibilities

• Execute batch production records accurately, in line with SOPs and GxP requirements
• Operate and monitor reactors, drying systems, purification HPLCs and lyophilization
• Perform in-process controls and interpret analytical results such as HPLC and ninhydrin tests
• Maintain material handling, inventory and ERP documentation following ALCOA+ principles
• Keep safety, cleanliness, PPE use and 5S standards high
• Work with QA, QC, Maintenance, Engineering and Supply Chain

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, or high school diploma with significant GMP manufacturing experience (Chemist I)
• Chemist I: 0-2 years of relevant experience (peptide manufacturing preferred)
• Chemist II: 3+ years in a regulated environment
• Chemist III: 5+ years with demonstrated leadership and technical expertise
• Ability to handle hazardous materials, wear respirators and PPE, and stand, walk and lift up to 25 lbs regularly
