Production Attendant - Cheese Packaging

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Production Attendant (general labor) in Waupun. The role prepares cheese packaging according to customer specifications, company policy and GMPs, keeps accurate records, follows safety measures and helps keep the cheese packaging process efficient. The schedule is a rotating 2-2-3 pattern, with shifts at 5:15-5:30 or 4:45-5:00 depending on the department, every-other-weekend work and holiday work on assigned days.

Key responsibilities

• Package cheese into the desired packaging material and check that each product meets customer specifications on the production sheet
• Maintain compliance with GMP, SOP, HACCP, SSOP and H&S policies and procedures
• Identify and report out-of-spec product conditions using the established notification protocol
• Assist with packaging set-up: machinery, date code printers, computers, product labels, vat selection and added ingredients
• Read and understand production worksheets, box and palletize accurately, sanitize lines when needed and enter data on production reports
• Rotate into all positions on the line and perform other tasks as assigned

Required profile

• Can consistently push, pull and lift 20-40 pounds and work with frequent bending, twisting and stooping
• Can stand or walk on concrete and work in a noisy, temperature-changing manufacturing environment
• Able to work scheduled hours and required overtime
• Working knowledge of safety methods and procedures, and ability to work with chemicals and PPE
• Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team, and committed to food safety and quality

Required skills

• Basic analytical and numerical skills, including simple math in different units of measurement
• Effective communication
