Product Developer & Engineer – Automotive Aftermarket

About the role

3M is seeking a Product Developer & Engineer to join the Automotive Aftermarket Division. You will work with a global team to enhance the Abrasives portfolio, driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage product portfolio health by reducing risk and improving performance.
• Optimize raw material usage to meet regulatory requirements and simplify the supply chain.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create high‑impact abrasive products.
• Scale up novel abrasive technologies from concept to manufacturing.
• Generate project scopes, plans, and design‑of‑experiments (DOE) studies.
• Develop and protect intellectual property related to abrasive products.
• Support manufacturing to ensure product consistency and quality.
• Document product lifecycle information, including specifications and bills of materials.
• Investigate and resolve performance issues through data analysis and lab testing.
• Engage with customers to align requirements and validate performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering).
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex technical problems.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
