Product Counsel, Payments & Terminal

About the role

Stripe is seeking a Product Counsel to join its Payments and Terminal product teams. In this position you will act as a key legal advisor, helping to expand product offerings while navigating complex regulatory landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as product counsel for Payments and Terminal, handling escalations and providing guidance on product-related legal questions.
• Counsel on payments regulations, scheme rules, consumer protection, marketing, intellectual property, and data privacy.
• Collaborate with engineering, compliance, business development, and marketing on product development and commercialization.
• Work with the broader legal team to resolve issues affecting regulatory structures, customer agreements, and strategic financial partnerships.
• Develop scalable processes for legal review and product launches.
• Draft, review, and update foundational documents for product and service offerings.
• Stay current on U.S. and international laws covering privacy, data security, consumer protection, financial services, and marketing.
• Partner proactively with senior managers to build trusted advisory relationships.
