Produce Team Leader

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Produce Team Leader in Springfield who plans, directs and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of the produce department. The leader mentors and coaches the team, drives customer service and sales while keeping the store appearance up to standard during peak hours.

Key responsibilities

• Staff, select and hire to meet staffing needs, and promote succession planning through career paths and promotion decisions
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge where needed
• Own the P&L, achieve sales targets and maintain shrink for the department
• Mentor and coach the team so customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the area meets Meijer standards
• Ensure the team is fully trained and has completed all required training
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
• Promote a safe work environment and spend most of the time in the store serving customers and team members
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years of related retail experience
• One year of management experience
• Rotational experience in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli, plus customer service and product flow experience, is helpful
• Reliable and consistent attendance

Required skills

• Clear communication and conflict resolution
• Managing multiple tasks and analyzing financial and statistical information
• Teaching suggestive selling and mentoring team members, hourly workers and team leaders
• Successful completion of all required certifications
