Produce Clerk

About the role

Fresh Thyme Market is hiring a Produce Clerk in Apple Valley. The clerk keeps the Produce Department stocked and clean during business hours, prepares and stocks the juice bar and cut fruit, and helps customers with product selection. The position suits someone interested in the retail grocery market and organic products.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the Produce Department and Juice Bar clean and safe, including shelves, floors and equipment.
• Stock produce and juice bar areas, present and rotate products, face and organize items according to department schematics, and check tag and pricing accuracy.
• Cut, package, wrap, juice, bottle and label products safely, and clean up product and equipment.
• Respond to customer inquiries, assist with purchases and sell and cross-sell products.
• Receive, inspect and log incoming products for shipment accuracy, temperature and quality.
• Monitor point-of-purchase signs, recipe cards, coupons and promotional material.
• Weigh and label products using scales and participate in pre-inventory preparation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 1-2 years of grocery retail experience; previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.
• A current Food Handler certificate is a plus.
• Ability to work varied hours and days as business dictates.

Required skills

• Knife handling skills for cutting produce.
• Basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
• Knowledge of Health Department guidelines for grocery retail.
• Attention to detail, multitasking and organizational skills.
