Procedural Nurse Educator

About the role

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) will lead procedural nursing education across Yale New Haven Health System. This role supports the growth of nurses from novice to expert, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess learning needs based on regulatory requirements, evidence‑based practice, and staff‑identified gaps.
• Support development of nursing leadership skills in line with ANA Standards of Practice.
• Represent nursing in the creation of interprofessional learning activities.
• Develop, educate, and implement quality‑improvement initiatives and track outcomes.
• Design, implement, and evaluate competency‑based orientation programs.
• Collaborate with nursing education teams to create initial and ongoing competency programs.
• Travel to YNHHS entities as needed to facilitate professional development activities.

Required profile

• Master's degree or higher, with at least one degree in nursing (BS or MS).
• Enrollment in a Master's program with completion required by 6/1/2027.
• 3‑5 years of active nursing experience; one year of teaching experience preferred.
• RN licensure in Connecticut or Rhode Island and nursing board certification within two years of hire.
• Ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programs.
