Probationary Building Trades Teacher – Career & Technical Education

About the role

The Buffalo Public School District is seeking a qualified, probationary Building Trades Teacher to join its Career & Technical Education program for the 2026‑2027 school year. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality instruction in one or more construction pathways to high‑school students, fostering hands‑on skills and industry‑standard knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver curriculum for carpentry, residential electrical, HVAC, or plumbing courses.
• Teach model making, blueprint reading, and technical drawing techniques.
• Demonstrate construction principles including foundation, floor, wall, roof, door/window systems, and specialized materials.
• Assess student performance through projects, quizzes, and practical evaluations.
• Prepare and present a modeled lesson and writing sample as part of the hiring process.

Required profile

• Valid New York State teaching certification in Carpentry, Electrical (Residential), HVAC, or Plumbing, or equivalent certification through NYSED with at least four years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to teach high‑school students and manage a classroom environment.
• Commitment to professional development and adherence to district policies.
