PRN Physical Therapy Assistant

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a PRN (as-needed) Physical Therapy Assistant in Redmond, Georgia. The position works day shifts and involves implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a physical therapist, while supporting patient care, documentation and billing.

Key responsibilities

• Practice principles of employee and patient safety during daily activities.
• Implement individualized treatment plans based on physical therapy evaluations, adjusting them as needed with the physical therapist.
• Collect patient data and communicate with physical therapists about discharge recommendations once maximum benefit is reached.
• Document patient care accurately, completely and on time, using measurable and objective terminology and following standards of practice, insurance guidelines and hospital policies.
• Charge patients accurately and on time according to CPT codes, price files and insurance guidelines.
• Oversee the care provided by rehabilitation aides and coordinate their activities, as well as those of students and other support personnel.
• Evaluate and interpret patient data relative to age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms, and identify the need for patient and caregiver education.
• Participate in practice changes from performance improvement activities and maintain clinical competencies through professional development and clinical instruction.
• Maintain productivity standards and adjust work hours to meet patient needs; other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate's degree required, in Physical Therapy.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license required, or PTA-TEMP license required.
• Ability to read, write and speak conversational English, and to communicate effectively in written, verbal and electronic formats.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
