ER RN - Night Contract (PRN)

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring an Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) for a night PRN contract of 36 hours per week, paid at $77.00 per hour plus shift differential. The nurse works in an acute hospital setting and provides patient care during night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate critical thinking appropriate to the patient's level of care and collect and document patient health data systematically and timely.
• Assess patients thoroughly, analyze assessment data and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care aligned with interdisciplinary goals.
• Implement interventions from the plan of care safely and document actions taken.
• Follow hospital policy for patient admission, discharge and transfer, and participate in peer interviewing and peer review.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and educate patients and families on their conditions, procedures and care plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and staff, and act as a patient advocate.
• Ensure safe handoff communication, follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE correctly and perform hand hygiene.
• Participate in quality, safety and efficiency initiatives and ensure proper use of medical supplies and equipment.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license; additional licensure or certification may depend on the unit or state.
• 2+ years of nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Fluent in English (reading, speaking and writing).
• Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise plans of care.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred; Associate's degree required.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows programs.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).
• Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) preferred.
