PRN Patient Safety Attendant

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Patient Safety Attendant for its Ottawa, Kansas facility (address 1301 S Main St, zip 66067). The position is PRN, with day and night shifts available, and pays between $15.15 and $22.73.

Key responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with transporting patients, delivering equipment and supplies, transporting specimens, delivering patient trays, answering phones and assisting visitors when not observing patients directly.
• Prevent patient self-harm or harm to others and seek immediate help for escalating incidents.
• Respect patient rights to privacy and confidentiality, and create clear, accurate documentation of patient status and activities during the shift.
• Promote positive patient interactions, advocate for patients and family-centered care, and communicate clearly with patients, physicians and colleagues.
• Participate actively in the healthcare team, support quality patient care and help orient new staff, students and volunteers.
• Maintain direct visual contact with the patient at all times, including during family visits, and accompany patients during transport, testing and procedures away from their usual environment.
• Create a safe environment using fall prevention, infection control and self-harm prevention protocols, and report changes in a patient's physical and emotional condition promptly.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent (required).
• 1+ year of clinical experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting (preferred).
• 1+ year of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Basic Life Support / CPR certification (required).
