Principal Stress Engineer

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft seeks a Principal Stress Engineer to join its Engineering department in Wichita, Kansas. You will work as a static stress analyst on aircraft structures, using both hand calculations and advanced computer techniques to develop high‑strength, low‑weight components.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex static analysis for metallic and non‑metallic aircraft parts.
• Collaborate with design and fatigue teams to deliver quality structural solutions.
• Document analyses for trade studies and detail drawing sign‑offs.
• Utilize Static Approver and Authorizer signatory processes and mentor others.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil or related engineering with strong emphasis on structural design and mechanics of materials.
• Minimum 13 years of experience in static stress analysis of airframe structures.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Physical ability to work onsite and meet the listed vision, hearing, and mobility requirements.

Required skills

• Static stress analysis (hand calculations and computer‑based methods).
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
• Knowledge of Airbus aircraft structures and related technical documentation.
