Principal Scientist II - Pharmacology (In Vivo)

About the role

NIBR Oncology, part of Novartis, is seeking an in vivo scientist to join its Oncology Pharmacology team in Cambridge, MA. The position is onsite and not open to remote work. It is a lab-head role leading the design and execution of in vivo anti-tumor efficacy and PK/PD studies in CDX, PDX and syngeneic models, developing novel in vivo assays and delivering translationally relevant data for early-stage drug discovery.

Key responsibilities

• Design pre-clinical in vivo studies to test hypotheses, screen candidate molecules and establish proof-of-concept for new modalities
• Develop in vivo CDX, PDX and syngeneic models to evaluate anti-tumor activity, PK/PD relationships, biomarkers and translational questions
• Manage associate-level scientists and collaborate with cross-functional project teams
• Analyze and present results in a multidisciplinary setting
• Follow animal protocols carefully and document data and methods in an electronic laboratory notebook

Required profile

• PhD with 5-8 years of research experience as a postdoc or in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
• Deep knowledge of antibody drug conjugates (preferred)
• Extensive experience with CDX and PDX xenograft models and/or syngeneic models
• Ability to lead in a matrixed environment and communicate across multidisciplinary teams

Required skills

• Cell culture, PCR, ELISA, western blot and flow cytometry
• Data analysis tools such as Prism and Excel
• PowerPoint

What we offer

• Expected salary of $126,000 to $234,000 per year, with a performance-based cash incentive and possible annual equity awards
