Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer

About the role

Amgen is looking for a Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join its Operations Technology Manufacturing & Engineering team at a US or European manufacturing location. The role applies program and project management principles to drive productivity, using technology to stop, optimize and automate processes, and works with business and technology leaders to align programs and deliver efficiency and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large capital project and product teams, fostering Agile delivery within GMP manufacturing environments
• Partner with site and global stakeholders to prioritize demand, manage backlogs and balance local needs with global strategy
• Own financials, resource planning, vendor performance and delivery against scope, schedule and quality targets
• Drive global standards, templates and best practices for operations technology design, deployment, lifecycle management and support
• Ensure solutions meet GMP compliance, data integrity, electronic batch records and regulatory inspection readiness
• Lead collaboration between site and corporate Operations, Quality, IT, OT, Automation, platform owners and system integrators
• Own the global operations technology roadmap, including upgrades, standardization, harmonization and site deployments
• Present program status to senior leadership at governance meetings

Required profile

• Doctorate with 2 years, Master's with 4 years, Bachelor's with 6 years, Associate's with 10 years, or high school diploma with 12 years of Information Systems / Manufacturing Process Automation experience
• Agile methodology authority, with traditional waterfall project management experience
• Preferred: Product Owner or Scrum Master experience, strong communication skills, project finance experience, and a consultant attitude

Required skills

• Operations technology: Aveva PI, DeltaV, Rockwell, MES (Korber)
• GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88 and S95, 21 CFR Part 11
• Fluent in Agile methodologies
• Integration of OT platforms (MES, PI data) with ERP, LIMS, historians and automation layers
