Principal Data Scientist, Loom

About the role

Loom, Atlassian's async video product, is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join its Analytics team. You will work on product and business problems with cross-functional partners, turning quantitative analysis, experimentation and data storytelling into strategies that shape the product roadmap. The role is listed as remote.

Key responsibilities

• Develop hypotheses using analytical approaches, methodologies, frameworks and technical methods, then test them
• Define, understand and test opportunities to improve products and the business, influencing roadmaps through insights and recommendations
• Partner with cross-functional teams to inform and execute strategy decisions
• Forecast and monitor key product metrics to measure the success of product efforts and spot trends
• Use data to shape product development, quantify new opportunities and identify upcoming challenges
• Communicate insights broadly, including to company leadership teams, using storytelling techniques

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in data science or related fields
• Proven track record of projects with measurable impact on business strategy and performance
• Experience advising, presenting to and acting as a thought partner to senior executives
• Ability to turn analysis into well-written content
• Desirable: 10+ years of experience; understanding of the SaaS business model and key metrics

Required skills

• SQL and another data manipulation language such as Python or R
• Data storytelling and at least one visualization tool (e.g. Tableau, R-Shiny, Looker)
• Statistical concepts such as regression, A/B tests, clustering and probability applied to business problems

• Base pay for new hires depending on location: Zone A $206,100-$269,075, Zone B $185,490-$242,168, Zone C $171,063-$223,332
