Principal Consultant – Process Simulation & Optimization

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a highly motivated Principal Consultant to lead process simulation and optimization projects for refining, petrochemical, and upstream operations. The role combines deep chemical engineering knowledge with hands‑on expertise in advanced modeling tools to deliver measurable operational and economic benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead execution of simulation and optimization projects, ensuring technical excellence, budget adherence, and timeline compliance.
• Review PFDs, P&IDs, and plant data to develop, configure, and validate open‑equation process models.
• Automate model workflows and support commissioning of online applications.
• Apply and innovate with APO/APS (or APO/ROMeo) technologies to solve complex operational challenges.
• Plan and conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for APO/APS solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve model configuration or process design issues.
• Support solution sales with technical presentations, proposals, benefits analysis, and cost estimation.
• Travel onsite to customer sites for commissioning and support activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemical, Petrochemical or Refinery Engineering.
• Minimum Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; higher degrees preferred.
• 5+ years developing, testing, or implementing process optimization and simulation applications in an online environment.

• Competitive salary range $124,200 – $207,000 per year.
