Mold Maker – Injection Mold Maintenance & Repair

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Mold Maker to join its Engineering team at the Houston manufacturing facility. The role focuses on precision repair, maintenance, and optimisation of high‑volume injection molds to ensure product quality and production uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain multi‑cavity injection molds and hot‑runner systems.
• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose and rebuild tooling components to extend mold life.
• Machine and fit precision parts using toolroom equipment such as mills, grinders, lathes and polishing tools.
• Analyse mold failures (flash, short shots, dimensional issues) and implement corrective actions.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and specifications for mold work.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document activities in Maximo CMMS.
• Communicate mold condition, repair status and root‑cause findings to Engineering, Maintenance, Quality and Production teams.
• Identify potential issues proactively and ensure compliance with GxP regulations and SOPs.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English reading, writing and speaking.
• Availability to work Wednesday‑Saturday 4:00 am‑2:30 pm (10‑hour shift).
• Willingness to work onsite in Houston, TX with up to 10 % travel.
• Relocation assistance offered; sponsorship not available.

Required skills
