Principal Auditor – Internal Audit Department

About the role

The Principal Auditor leads the Internal Audit Department, overseeing the planning, execution, and reporting of audits across city operations. This senior position ensures financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop audit programs, conduct risk assessments, and define audit scopes.
• Coordinate and perform comprehensive audits, including data collection, evidence retrieval, and detailed analysis.
• Prepare and present analytical reports with findings, recommendations, and alternative solutions.
• Monitor audit program performance, recommend procedural improvements, and track goal achievement.
• Provide technical assistance to city departments on financial and managerial issues.
• Serve on advisory committees, prepare budget and project cost information, and support departmental planning.
• Maintain effective communication and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in internal auditing, preferably within a public‑sector environment.
• Strong analytical abilities and the capacity to interpret complex regulations.
• Ability to work independently and accommodate essential job functions.
