Principal AI Engineer

About the role

Manhattan Associates is seeking a senior technical leader to design, develop, and guide advanced AI systems that support business goals across the organization. The Principal AI Engineer will drive AI adoption, evangelize its value, and ensure responsible, scalable implementations.

Key responsibilities

• Design scalable AI/ML architectures and define long‑term AI technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead development and production deployment of machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI models.
• Mentor AI engineers, data scientists, and ML engineers while setting engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into AI solutions.
• Ensure ethical AI practices, model explainability, fairness, privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• 7+ years of industry experience in software engineering, machine learning, or AI roles, with a focus on developing, deploying, and scaling ML/AI solutions.
• 3+ years of proven experience designing large‑scale AI systems and defining technical roadmaps.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and business audiences.
• Experience leading/mentoring junior staff and partnering with vendors.

Required skills

• Python with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn, Hugging Face.
• Data engineering tools: Airflow, Spark, ETL systems.
• MLOps, model lifecycle management, production‑grade deployment.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), Docker, Kubernetes.
• AI frameworks: Microsoft Copilot, Glean, Google Agentspace.
• Machine learning techniques: classification, regression, clustering, recommendation systems, CNNs, RNNs, Transformers, GANs.
• NLP models: BERT, GPT, LLM fine‑tuning.
• Computer vision: YOLO, ResNet, object tracking, OCR.
