Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician – Women’s Sports Program

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician to expand its innovative sports medicine program with a focus on women’s athletics. The physician will provide comprehensive, non‑operative sports medicine care and lead the development of a multidisciplinary Women’s Sports Program serving athletes of all ages.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary care sports medicine services including musculoskeletal evaluation, injury prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and ultrasound‑guided procedures.
• Manage concussion assessment and return‑to‑play protocols for athletes.
• Lead and grow a Women’s Sports Medicine Program, addressing female athlete health, bone health, pregnancy‑related exercise guidance, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
• Collaborate with orthopedics, OB/GYN, endocrinology, nutrition, and mental‑health specialists to create integrated care pathways.
• Participate in teaching, mentorship of fellows, residents, and medical students, and engage in clinical research related to women’s sports performance.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Primary Care Sports Medicine.
• Experience delivering sports medicine care to a diverse athlete population, with interest in women’s health.

Required skills

• Ultrasound‑guided procedural expertise.
• Proficiency with Epic EMR platform for coordinated care.
• Concussion management and return‑to‑play protocol development.
