Prep Cook - Fine Dining

About the role

The Prep Cook provides quick and efficient service to customers through a variety of duties related to a fine dining culinary experience, while maintaining sanitation standards. The position is based at a Smoothie King location in New Orleans.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisors' assignments for opening and closing procedures and food preparation.
• Prepare food items according to portion sizes, quality standards, departmental rules, policies and procedures.
• Maintain proper food temperatures.
• Keep work areas, kitchen shelves, walls, floors and drains clean, and maintain sanitation for dining and cooking utensils and cookware.
• Handle and clean kitchen equipment carefully and safely.
• Work as part of a team on preparation, service and delivery of product.
• Adhere to company guidelines for appearance and uniform standards.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old; high school diploma or equivalent, with culinary training preferred.
• One year of experience in a fast-paced high-end club or restaurant preferred.
• Ability to work all events, including extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Able to lift and move items up to 30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds, and to work with constant reaching, bending and stooping.
• Must be able to read, speak and write in English.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
• Professional culinary training or experience in a fast-paced high-volume fine dining restaurant or catering facility preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
