Pre-Service Representative

About the role

This position supports patients by coordinating with insurance payors to verify benefits, obtain necessary pre‑certifications, and communicate financial liability before scheduled services. The role ensures the pre‑service process is completed efficiently, contributing to an exceptional patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with insurance payors via phone, fax, or internet to verify benefits and obtain pre‑certifications.
• Gather and validate patient insurance and demographic information and enter it into EPIC.
• Estimate patient financial liability and convey it to patients before service.
• Collaborate with clinical providers, case management, and nursing staff to ensure pre‑service processes are completed.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in hospital, clinic, medical office, revenue cycle, or related customer‑service role.
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Strong computer skills, including Windows applications and data entry.
