Postdoctoral Researcher in Cyber‑Physical Systems and Trustworthy AI

About the role

The iSTAR Lab at Texas A&M Engineering seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to lead advanced research in Cyber‑Physical Systems, Trustworthy AI, cybersecurity, and Next‑Generation Networks on federally funded projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement novel methods in the lab’s research directions and the candidate’s expertise.
• Assist the PI in identifying funding opportunities and drafting technical proposals for federal and industrial sponsors.
• Lead authoring of high‑impact journal articles (IEEE, ACM) and present findings at flagship conferences.
• Co‑supervise Ph.D. and Master’s students, providing technical guidance.
• Oversee development, management, and utilization of lab testbeds such as smart‑grid co‑simulations, CPS robotics, SDRs, and industrial control systems.
• Coordinate collaborations with external partners, including GCRI, Texas A&M Institute of Data Science, and Smart Grid Center.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in cybersecurity, AI, networked systems, and at least one type of cyber‑physical system.
• Proficiency in mathematical modeling (Game Theory, Optimization, or Control Theory).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven record of peer‑reviewed publications.

Required skills

• Advanced programming in Python, C++, and MATLAB.
• Mathematical modeling using Game Theory, Optimization, or Control Theory.
• Expertise in cybersecurity, AI, and networked systems.
