Postdoctoral Researcher / Assistant Research Scientist in RF Quantum Electronics

About the role

The You Zhou Lab in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Maryland seeks multiple postdoctoral researchers or assistant research scientists to develop radio‑frequency quantum electronics using two‑dimensional materials. The position starts in Summer 2025 and involves close collaboration with the DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute interdisciplinary research at the intersection of materials science and electronics.
• Produce high‑impact publications and funding proposals.
• Review and synthesize literature to guide new project directions.
• Mentor and train graduate, undergraduate, and faculty research assistants.
• Collect and analyze data at Army Research Labs facilities.
• Prepare presentations, technical reports, and scholarly articles for internal and external audiences.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field by the start date.
• Experience directing or training junior researchers.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong oral and written communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship (required for collaboration with Army Research Laboratory).
