Postdoctoral Researcher – Advanced Semiconductor Prototyping

About the role

The Texas A&M Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to support a new DoD‑funded advanced semiconductor prototyping facility. Working under Dr. Dion Antao and alongside a multidisciplinary faculty team, you will contribute to cutting‑edge thermal management research for next‑generation three‑dimensional heterogeneously integrated (3DHI) microsystems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, assemble, and commission a modular test‑bed for thermal performance characterization of advanced semiconductor devices.
• Measure both transient and steady‑state thermal behavior of thermal interface materials, packaging compounds, and two‑phase cooling solutions.
• Collaborate with industry partners and facility users to define test requirements and deliver results.
• Document experimental procedures, data analysis, and findings for internal and external reporting.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience in thermal management, semiconductor testing, or micro‑electronics research.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Thermal performance testing and analysis.
• Modular test‑bed design and assembly.
• Knowledge of thermal interface materials (TIMs) and two‑phase cooling technologies.
• Experience with semiconductor prototyping and 3DHI microsystems.
