About the role
The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture seeks a motivated postdoctoral fellow to join its established rice breeding program. The candidate will work closely with the senior rice breeder to develop new rice varieties and integrate advanced technologies into the breeding pipeline.
Key responsibilities
- Support the senior rice breeder in developing new rice varieties across all market classes.
- Implement and evaluate herbicide technologies for Arkansas and beyond.
- Apply genomic selection and prediction methods to accelerate breeding cycles.
- Conduct high‑throughput phenotyping and integrate AI tools for trait analysis.
- Manage germplasm collections and coordinate field trials.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Plant Science, Genetics, Agronomy or a related field.
- Experience in rice breeding or cereal crop research.
- Self‑driven, motivated and able to work independently.

- Artificial intelligence (AI) applications in breeding
