Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to provide immediate post‑operative care to surgical patients in our Athens, TX hospital. The role involves monitoring vital signs, managing anesthesia recovery, and ensuring a smooth transition from the operating room to discharge.

Key responsibilities

• Provide immediate post‑operative care, monitor vital signs, and manage anesthesia recovery symptoms.
• Administer prescribed medications and implement treatment plans as directed by medical staff.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to ensure seamless patient transition.
• Educate patients and families on post‑operative care, pain management, wound care, and potential complications.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with hospital policies.

Required profile

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license.
• One year experience in PACU, ICU, or a similar high‑acuity setting (preferred).
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, pediatric, presurgical assessment, robotic surgery, transplant, or wound and drain care (preferred).
