Polysomnographic Technologist 2 – Full‑Time (Sleep Center)

About the role

The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Sleep Center is seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist 2 to administer sleep studies, assess patients, and support the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor brain waves, eye movements, muscle activity, breathing variables and blood‑oxygen levels during sleep using specialized recording equipment.
• Explain study procedures to patients and ensure proper use of PAP devices and other treatment equipment.
• Gather and verify patient information and physician orders to select appropriate tests.
• Prepare, calibrate and maintain sleep‑study equipment, applying electrodes and sensors according to published standards.
• Fit positive airway pressure (PAP) masks, set correct pressure levels and administer oxygen when required.
• Score sleep‑wake stages and clinical events following accepted guidelines and center‑specific protocols.
• Generate accurate reports summarising sleep stages, events and other test results.
• Maintain inventory and adhere to university policies and safety procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Minimum two years of experience performing sleep studies.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification.
• Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
