About the role

The United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Watch Room. This unpaid, full‑time position in New York provides hands‑on experience in situational awareness, data analysis, and crisis management supporting senior UN leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Watch Room in analysing and visualising structured and unstructured data from UNOCC repositories.
• Draft and format meeting minutes, outcome notes, briefings, country profiles, visual aids and presentations for senior leaders.
• Conduct open‑source monitoring and research on emerging crises.
• Help organise enhanced monitoring and crisis‑management meetings.
• Undertake additional assignments as required by the Head of the Watch Room.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
• Active listening, clear questioning, and openness in sharing information.
• Team‑oriented mindset, valuing colleagues’ ideas and supporting collective decisions.
• Motivation to work in a fast‑paced, high‑stakes UN environment.
