About the role

The University Police Department at Texas A&M University‑Central Texas is seeking a Police Officer I to provide professional law‑enforcement services on campus. This full‑time, onsite position supports the safety of students, staff, and visitors while enforcing university policies and state laws.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol designated campus areas to deter crime, enforce traffic regulations, and respond to emergencies.
• Answer calls for service involving fires, accidents, disturbances, assaults, robberies, and other incidents.
• Interact daily with the public, offering assistance and coordinating with other law‑enforcement and community agencies.
• Secure crime scenes, conduct investigations, collect evidence, obtain witness statements, and make arrests.
• Enforce university rules, criminal statutes, and motor‑vehicle regulations in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; combination of education and experience acceptable.
• At least one year of related law‑enforcement experience.
• Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) basic certification.
• Valid Texas Class C driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Successful completion of psychological evaluation, physical exam, and comprehensive background check.
