Police Dispatcher – Full‑time

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a dedicated Police Dispatcher to handle incoming emergency calls, coordinate response teams, and maintain accurate records. This full‑time position supports campus safety by ensuring timely and precise communication between callers, law‑enforcement officers, and emergency services.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize all police telephone calls and dispatch appropriate emergency services.
• Enter, modify, and remove warrants in the law‑enforcement computer system.
• Maintain logs, station alarms, and recording equipment in optimal condition.
• Provide information, complaint resolution, and relay response details to requesting officers.
• Monitor radio communications from field personnel and confirm information with internal chain of command.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive data.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of relevant dispatch or emergency communications experience.
• Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize under pressure, and commitment to university core values.
