Plumber II - Data Center Operations & Maintenance

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Plumber II for its operations and maintenance team in Fort Wayne, Indiana, working in a data center environment. The role provides an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and repairing fixtures and systems, and is a multi-craft position performed with minimal supervision as part of a self-directed team.

Key responsibilities

• Lay out, construct, install, repair, maintain and test plumbing systems such as water, drain, lawn and fire sprinkler systems, and assist with underground sewer and water systems.
• Perform O&M plumbing from the first valve and manhole to the building, including fixtures and piping inside and outside.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance, including inspections, and develop and implement maintenance procedures.
• Maintain spare parts inventory, estimate jobs and support co-workers, contractors, vendors, project managers and building managers.
• Follow safety rules such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout and PPE, and comply with codes, regulations and permit systems.
• Use measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments and hand and power tools, and work in a CMMS environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of plumbing experience, including basic to complex plumbing needs.
• Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
• Preferred: active Indiana Journeyman Plumber license, experience with 480-volt 3-phase electrical systems, industrial equipment troubleshooting (vacuum systems, RO/DI water systems), CMMS experience and knowledge of hand/power tools and air measuring instruments.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a security access badge; possible overtime, holidays, weekends and shift work.

Required skills

• Fluency in computer use, including the full Microsoft product line.
• Operating a CMMS and reading documents and schematics.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, walk extensively, bend, squat and kneel.
