Platform Engineer III – Backend Java & .NET (Cincinnati)

About the role

We are seeking a Platform Engineer III to join our backend engineering team in Cincinnati. The role focuses on building scalable, cloud‑native backend systems using Java Spring Boot and .NET, and contributing to architectural decisions and microservice design.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable backend services with Java Spring Boot and .NET Core, re‑platforming existing .NET systems.
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies, shaping project direction and technical approach.
• Develop containerized microservices on OpenShift and AWS, creating CI/CD pipelines and automated operational solutions.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews, and ensure security and performance best practices.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of professional software development experience delivering production‑grade applications.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with ability to design elegant solutions for complex requirements.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Java Spring Boot (Java 17+) and Spring ecosystem (Security, Data, Cloud).
• .NET Core/.NET 6+, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework.
• RESTful API design, authentication, versioning, documentation.
• AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS) and cloud‑native development.
• Docker, Kubernetes/ECS for container orchestration.
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline.
• Version control with Git.
• Testing frameworks: JUnit, NUnit/xUnit.
• Agile methodology participation.
• Bonus: Event‑driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS), advanced AWS services (API Gateway, CloudFormation, Secrets Manager), HashiCorp Vault, vulnerability scanning.
