Physician (Hourly Paid) – Georgia Regional Hospital at Atlanta

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a board‑eligible or board‑certified physician to provide hourly medical services at the Georgia Regional Hospital at Atlanta (GRHA). This position supports individuals receiving care through the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, offering direct patient care, assessments, and collaborative treatment planning.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical examinations, diagnose, and treat patients with behavioral health and developmental disabilities.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in partnership with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses.
• Order, interpret, and act on laboratory and imaging studies.
• Prescribe medications, monitor efficacy, and manage adverse effects.
• Provide crisis intervention and emergency medical care as needed.
• Document all encounters promptly in electronic health records.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and grand rounds.
• Educate patients, families, and staff on health conditions and preventive care.

Required profile

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Current, unrestricted Georgia medical license.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, or related specialty (preferred).
• Valid DEA registration and current BLS/ACLS certifications.
• At least one year of clinical experience, preferably in behavioral health or developmental disabilities.
• Strong diagnostic, clinical, and communication skills.
