Physician Assistant – Orthopaedics & Orthopedic Surgery (Joint)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a full‑time Physician Assistant to support orthopaedic and joint surgery patients. Working under physician supervision, you will assess, diagnose, and manage patient care within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preliminary diagnoses and determine follow‑up procedures.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X‑rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory work.
• Conduct minor procedures including immunizations, injections, suturing, and wound care.
• Develop and implement patient care plans, provide health education, and assist with emergency treatments.
• Document medical data accurately, report changes in patient conditions, and participate in audits related to billed services.
• Serve as liaison between orthopaedic staff, external providers, insurers, and patients.
• Assist in preparing and facilitating faculty clinics and manage patient histories and examinations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Relevant certification or licensure for Physician Assistants.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in orthopaedic or surgical settings.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to prioritize under pressure.
