Phlebotomy Technician I

About the role

LA Health Services is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I to join its clinical team. The successful candidate will perform blood collections, ensure accurate specimen handling, and provide compassionate care to patients across our Los Angeles County facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient identification and review physician requisitions before collection.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws using syringes, vacutainers, lancets, or other approved methods.
• Assemble and maintain collection equipment such as tourniquets, needles, gauze, and alcohol swabs.
• Label specimens accurately and follow all safety and infection‑control protocols.
• Calm and reassure anxious patients, explaining the purpose of the draw.

• Detail‑oriented and able to follow precise procedural steps.
• Compassionate with strong patient‑focused communication.
• Professional demeanor and courteous interaction with patients and staff.

Required skills

• Venipuncture technique.
