About the role

The Phlebotomist is an essential member of the medical laboratory team at Cleveland Clinic’s Martin South Hospital. This role focuses on collecting blood and other specimens, ensuring patient comfort, and supporting accurate laboratory testing.

Key responsibilities

Collect blood samples and other specimens (e.g., urine) from patients of all ages.
Process and prepare specimens for testing, manage them in the laboratory information system, and ship reference laboratory samples.
Perform blood‑collection techniques such as glucose tolerance tests and blood cultures.
Monitor test orders and requisitions to ensure compliance with outpatient laboratory testing.

Required profile

High School Diploma or GED.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Preferred: one year of college or equivalent and six months of phlebotomy and laboratory processing experience.
