Pharmacy Technician - Overnight StaffFlex Contract

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time overnight pharmacy technician for a StaffFlex contract in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. The schedule is 7-on/7-off starting on Wednesdays, with no call, and pays $57.57 per hour. The role covers advanced pharmacy duties with autonomy, including dispensing, sterile compounding and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Independently prepare and dispense patient-specific doses, and independently compound and manage complex sterile preparations following USP <795>, <797> and <800> guidelines.
• Provide leadership and coverage in at least two core pharmacy practice areas, including central/distributive pharmacy, ADC management and cleanroom compounding, and in at least one advanced area such as hazardous cleanroom compounding, CII safe management or inventory management.
• Manage medication inventory, including controlled substance audits, reconciliation and diversion prevention, and maintain cold chain custody and quarantine areas.
• Lead or contribute to compliance audits, quality improvement projects, and act as a liaison between pharmacy and clinical teams.
• Mentor technicians, support onboarding and competency validation, and train pharmacy learners.
• Troubleshoot pharmacy automation systems, ADCs and software, and lead hazardous medication handling and spill response.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1+ years of contemporary hospital pharmacy experience, or retail or ambulatory experience.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT).
• Conversational English, ability to follow direction from a pharmacist and to keep accurate records.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Preferred: pharmacy technician training program, ability to teach students, hospital computer systems, aseptic techniques and USP 795/797/800.
