Pharmacy Intern - P2

About the role

Meijer is hiring a Pharmacy Intern (P2) in Franklin. The intern provides basic pharmacy knowledge to customers, processes and fills prescriptions, handles third-party functions, manages inventory and delivers clinical services. The selected person must hold an enrolled pharmacy student status and a state-specific pharmacy intern license.

Key responsibilities

• Customer service: communicate with patients in person and by phone, help them choose products and obtain medication prices internally and from competitors.
• Prescription handling: enter prescription data into the pharmacy computer system, adjudicate third parties, pull products from the shelf, count and label at the fill station, receive new prescriptions and sell prescriptions at the Will Call station.
• Third-party functions and inventory: update balance on hand, order products, look up Meijer codes, check in and put away orders, and process vendor charge backs, transfers and salvage.
• Clinical services: perform health screening tests and immunizations after proper training and state-specific authorization, and use MTM platforms under a pharmacist's supervision when allowed.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school.
• State-specific pharmacy intern license.
• Excellent communication, customer service and empathy; neat, legible penmanship.
• Organizational, prioritization and team-oriented skills, with timeliness and dependability.
• Professional appearance and understanding of patient confidentiality.

Required skills

• Basic math and pharmaceutical calculations.
• Brand/generic drug names, medical and pharmacy terminology, dosage forms and MP6.
• Third-party billing and prescription split billing.
• Health screening tests, immunizations and MTM platforms.
