Pharmacology Faculty (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor)

About the role

Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM), a nonprofit four-year MD program founded in 2021, is seeking an experienced, motivated and dedicated Pharmacology faculty member to help design and deliver its innovative four-year medical school curriculum. The position is full-time, non-tenure, and sits at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, depending on experience and qualifications. It reports to the Department Chair of Medical Education and is based on site in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the pharmacology curriculum, including clinically relevant narratives and assessment tools such as NBME-style multiple-choice questions and active-learning performance assessments.
• Teach and instruct students using active learning methods, including flipped classroom content and small-group sessions such as case-based learning.
• Create learning objectives mapped to the curriculum and use appropriate metrics to assess whether students meet them.
• Work with colleagues on continuous quality improvement of courses, activities and assessments.
• Take part in medical school leadership groups such as the Curriculum and Admissions Committees.
• Engage in professional development and carry out other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD or equivalent) with specific training or experience in pharmacology or a closely related field.
• Experience delivering pharmacology content in higher education.
• Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education.
• At least two years of experience in an LCME or COCA accredited undergraduate or postgraduate medical education program focused on pharmacology.
• Preferred: experience in curricular development, interdisciplinary collaboration with medical microbiology, and designing, delivering and evaluating integrated foundational science courses.
