Pharmacist – Single Preferred Drug List Lead

About the role
The Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) in Washington, DC is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to lead and coordinate the Single Preferred Drug List (sPDL) program. The incumbent will work within the Office of the Medical Director to improve health outcomes through effective drug‑list management.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage a project plan and tools to monitor sPDL implementation.
- Track communication and tasks across DHCF, managed care plans, vendors and other stakeholders.
- Identify implementation milestones and monitor task completion to ensure on‑time rollout.
- Engage enrolled members, MCOs, prescribers and pharmacies in the transition process.
- Assist in drafting or reviewing MCO contract language related to the sPDL.
- Review therapeutic class input from stakeholders to inform drug‑list decisions.
- Summarize and analyze switches between MCO PDLs and Fee‑for‑Service PDLs.
- Develop grandfathering policies for drug switches and set PDL adherence targets.
- Document coordination processes for authorizations during plan or drug‑list transitions.
- Analyze data with DHCF vendors to determine appropriate go‑live schedules.
- Support the CPAPS team on daily issues affecting FFS beneficiaries and providers.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent education/experience.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience, including at least one year as a licensed pharmacist in an inpatient hospital or retail setting.
- Three years of pharmacist claims submission and Pharmacy Benefit Management experience, preferably with Pyxis or similar automatic dispensing systems.
- Current active pharmacist license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Immunization record meeting District of Columbia Health Department recommendations.
