About the role
The University of Miami is seeking a licensed pharmacist to work both full‑time and per‑diem in its healthcare facilities. The role involves preparing, dispensing, and reviewing medications while ensuring compliance with university policies and state regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals in accordance with legal and policy requirements.
- Compound and dispense medications prescribed by physicians and dentists, accurately calculating dosages and measuring ingredients.
- Assess medication identity, strength, and purity, and perform drug utilization reviews.
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, suitability, and potential drug interactions.
- Provide patients and staff with information on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
- Maintain pharmacy records, inventory, and controlled‑substance registries.
- Advise customers on medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies.
- Adhere to university and unit‑level policies, safeguarding assets and ensuring proper disposal of pharmaceuticals.
Required profile
- Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) – required.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant pharmacy experience.
- Valid State of Florida Registered Pharmacist license.
- Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
